Every other label (except maybe Fusion) has accepted the name.
Not taking sides here, but if you're going to make a claim as big as that, you're going to need to back it up :P

I haven't once heard that term used in any label.

Kayem & Likquid - We Bring The Nu-Style :P

Ok so maybe that's a bold claim, but I've seen big artists from most of the other big labels use the referral, or accept the term in interviews.

D10 labelled his latest hardstyle release as the '2010 Nu-Style Mix'

Another better example would be DJ's United / TRC, who have segregated their sub labels to cater for different sounds

Black - Hardstyle
Red - Experimental / undefinable
Orange - Nu-style
Yellow (Zanzatraxx) - Whatever the fuck Tatanka makes

Straight On also created Next Chapter to differentiate (as well as SO Black for Techstyle / Tech influenced releases), but then that split got stuffed up by Wasted Penguinz and Pradera releases being released on SO red.

How can it hurt or be pointless to maturely discuss and elaborate on our point of view though...

We only start going around in circles when some smart cookie decides to ask "I don't know what the difference between Hardstyle or Nustyle is or what's Nustyle ?"

Here's an idea....use your fucking ears...

discussing it means we all understand each other better, and can learn to respect each other's opinions. it's not about changing someone's mind, just explaining your point of view and trying to understand theirs.

people just geniunely dont know what nustyle sometimes - yeah of course some people know and say they dont to cause trouble, but there are people who dont know what it is.

i see discussions like this as negotiations with either side (pro-nu and anti-nu/not into nu) not being able to agree on particular points and its just frustrating.

i knew i shouldnt have posted in here - carry on gents

No, just Scantraxx refuses to use that name. Every other label (except maybe Fusion) has accepted the name. Too bad that the biggest players in the market refuse to make the differentiation.

But why should they?
Because a (comparatively small number) of fans use it?

They create the music, they can call it what they want.

So they should call it what they want, just stop calling it what it isn't :)

I call it all Hardstyle. I will sometimes refer it to Nu-Hardstyle on forums though.

Anyway,

It has evolved and I think it is much more exciting now.

As a producer, I guess I just like music that is more 'musical'. I have never been into tracks with 9 minutes of reverse bass with no melody. I like a mix of heavy (sub) kicks, reverse bass, melody, screeches, breaks (choirs, piano, guitar, vocals) etc. I just think there is so much more to it now, which early hardstyle didn't have.

I love the way Hardstyle is going, especially lately, with Noisecontrollers and other artists experimenting more.

It's perfect!

Sorry I wasn't born with the ability to tell the difference there Satyriasis, and excuse my thirst for knowledge.
After all, my knowledge of music allows my ears to identify a genre.

That being said, I find this thread to be very informative and thank you everybody for your input and clarification on this topic.
I've just been wondering what the fuss is all about and never really understood where the line is drawn and why people are so divided over something that to me, seemed like a minuscule difference. now that I understand better i can see why it can be a sore subject for some people. i like a little of both i suppose, though I really prefer to form my opinion on a song by song basis.

Right...

I can appreciate that industrial takes a lot of effort to produce and the work that is done with sound design in industrial is amazing, but I personally don't see much 'musical' value in the traditional sense.

The one thing I find funny about an artist such as, let's say, Scope DJ. His productions lately are including the reverse bass, hard kicks etc. which HE thinks represents as the typical structure of an early hardstyle track. But what he doesn't realise is that Early Hardstyle never had fairy melodies (Not-Enuff Remix) and stupid one liners.

Early Hardstyle was continuous, and in the breaks (if anything) it would ALWAYS contain something very deep maybe a demonic element to it or..acid influence maybe, and then get back to the actualy track. Not some 3 minute talk over from a religious movie like 'The Sacrifice' or some bullshit movie quote.

That's what seperates Nustyle from Early Hardstyle.

The structure of the track is the key identifier to what is what.

If you want a track with a cute melody, then listen to trance or maybe even hard dance. The term hardstyle means it's HARD. Not something with a side of fairy bread to ease the listening audience.
